An Audi is a different animal when it comes to mechanical repairs and maintenance. These German vehicles are quite different from the average car you see on the highway in Houston. Audi’s are finely crafted European machines that require precision care and expertise to meet the high standards of European carmakers. From the high-performance LiquiMoly fluids we use to the advanced tooling and diagnostic procedures that our skilled technicians employ, repair and service on an Audi is a serious undertaking.

Factory Recommended Maintenance

Audi requires that their vehicles adhere to a strict maintenance schedule. Like most European luxury brands, the highest quality fluids, filters, and components are a must. This ensures maintaining not only your vehicle’s longevity, but also its warranty.

Speaking of your Audi factory warranty, many people are of the misconception that you must go to the dealership for maintenance or you will void your factory warranty. This is absolutely NOT true. In fact, federal law prohibits manufacturers from even implying that you must use them for maintenance in order to protect your warranty. This law is called the Magnusson Moss Act of 1975 and it protects the customers right to use an independent auto repair shop to do preventative maintenance or repairs on your car, crossover, or SUV. Audi repair and Audi service does not need to be performed by the dealer.

That being said, Audi service and maintenance still has to incorporate the proper specification of fluids, filters, or any other parts. At Horeb Auto Repair, we’re Audi experts and our technicians take pride in always doing what’s best for you and your car. We only use the best parts and the highest quality lubricants.

Audi Maintenance Schedules

Audi follows an “every other” schedule that rotates between a minor maintenance that is done every one year or 10,000 miles, and a standard maintenance that is done every 2 years or 20,000 miles. It is incredibly important to note that this schedule is for vehicles that are driven under “normal” driving conditions. Driving in Houston is hardly considered normal. The constant stop and go traffic in the high temperatures of south Texas can require additional maintenance services to be performed, especially if you have intentions of keeping your Audi for an extended period of time.

The maintenance schedule is not 100% consistent across all Audi models, but for the most part on modern models the schedule will look something like this.

Minor Service (every one year)

  • Brake system – check the thickness of the brake pads
  • Engine oil and filter change
  • Complete multi-point inspection of the entire vehicle
  • Reset the service reminder indicator display
  • Check and record the completeness and expiration date of the tire repair kit

Major Service (every two years)

  • Body and chassis inspection for paint damage and corrosion
  • Brake system – check for leaks or damage and check the thickness of the brake pads and rotors
  • Check battery condition
  • Convertible top – lubricate hinges and latch points
  • Lubricate door hinges
  • Check cooling system and test coolant for freeze protection
  • Oil change and filter replacement
  • Visual inspection of drivetrain for leaks, wear, or damage
  • Check function of all exterior lights
  • Check headlight adjustment
  • Road test
  • Check air filter and plenum chamber for excessive dirt buildup
  • Check condition and inflation pressure of spare tire (if equipped)
  • Check tire condition, pressure, and tread wear
  • Check wiper blade condition and replace if necessary

When it comes to your maintenance needs, there are a lot of service options. We work with car owners to create a custom maintenance plan for their cars. Drivers of German cars know that getting the most out of their vehicle requires more than oil changes and replacing an air filter every now and then. Proper vehicle care is in the details. Quality materials combined with the experience  gained from years of performing Audi service and repair makes for dependable cars and happy customers.

Audi Diagnostics

Performing diagnostics and repairing check engine lights and other malfunction indicator lights requires special knowledge, factory scan tools, and factory information systems.

Working on a European vehicle is not something that can be done at an expert level using universal scan tools and generic OBDII diagnostic machines. At Horeb Auto, we use Ross Tech’s VCDS with Hex Net. Our Audi technician has factory training and is certified in all levels of Audi repair and service. Besides the equipment and training, we have the experience necessary to perform expert diagnosis on your car so that when it leaves our service center, you know it’s fixed correctly.

With advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), it’s more important than ever that your mechanic has the experience, training, and understanding of the technology to perform a quality repair.

For the peace of mind of our customers, all of our auto repair services come with a standard 2 year / 24,000 mile warranty. We stand behind our diagnosis and we stand behind our repairs.
